Storm Drain Repair

If your storm drain keeps clogging no matter how often it’s cleared, the pipe itself is usually the problem. Old clay tile cracks and shifts, roots push in at the joints, and sections can collapse under the weight of soil, driveways, or freeze and thaw. Once a storm line is broken, rainwater leaks out next to your foundation instead of draining away.

Biagi Plumbing repairs and replaces residential storm drains across the North Shore. We start by finding out exactly what’s wrong so you only pay to fix what’s broken.

Signs Your Storm Drain Needs Repair

  • The same downspout keeps backing up after it’s been cleared.
  • A sinkhole or soft spot in the yard along the drain line.
  • Water in the basement on the same wall after every storm.
  • Roots or pieces of clay pipe coming out when the line is cleared.

How We Fix It

We run a camera through the line to find the break, measure where it is, and see how much pipe is damaged. A single cracked or collapsed section can usually be dug up and replaced on its own. If the whole line is failing, we’ll replace it with modern PVC pipe. Either way, you’ll see the camera footage and know the price before we dig.

Storm Drain Repair FAQs

How do I know if my storm drain is broken or just clogged?

If it backs up again soon after being cleared, or roots and pieces of pipe come out, the pipe is likely damaged. A camera inspection tells you for sure.

Do you have to dig up my whole yard?

No. The camera shows exactly where the damage is, so we dig only where the repair is needed.

What are old storm drains made of?

Many older North Shore homes have clay tile storm lines. Clay lasts a long time but cracks with age and lets roots in at the joints.

Will a broken storm drain cause basement water?

It can. A broken line lets rainwater soak into the soil right next to your foundation, which raises the pressure on basement walls and floors.
